"Pressure Point" is a satirical documentary series exploring British Columbia’s environmental issues through fictional interviews with politicians and senior bureaucrats.
This episode takes a satirical look at political evasiveness and the excuses politicians use to avoid answering difficult questions about controversial environmental issues. Excuses of privacy, a court proceeding, or even a pending or possible court proceeding, politicians lean on what is known as the sub judice rule, which prevents them from exerting undue influence on the outcome of a court proceeding. But this excuse is used way too often by politicians as a way to avoid discussing an issue that might be uncomfortable for them. What might this look like if taken to the extreme?
