"Pressure Point" is a satirical documentary series exploring British Columbia’s environmental issues through fictional interviews with politicians and senior bureaucrats. This episode looks at the closure of Fisheries and Oceans libraries and what a government minister might say about public access to scientific information.

On June 12, 2012, Stephen Harper's conservative government closed 25 libraries. The closures included consolidating seven of the 11 Department of Fisheries and Oceans libraries into four locations. This made access to Fisheries documents even more difficult for the public than it was previously. I found myself wondering what a Fisheries minister would say during an interview if they were to speak freely about the motivations for the closures and some of their other questionable policies when it came to protecting fish.
