“Remembering Celilo Falls, Parts 1 & 2” SAMAQAN Season 1 Episode 3 & 4

“Remembering Celilo Falls” (Part 1) shows how the Dalles Dam drowned the Celilo Falls on the lower Columbia River, affecting the Nez Percé and Klickitat people and the salmon migration. “Remembering Celilo Falls” (Part 2) shows how the Columbia River dams have challenged the survival of the salmon and what has been done to mitigate the damage.

North America's Indigenous people have always had a sacred relationship with water. This series, “SAMAQAN”, shares their perspective on a most precious resource -- a resource to be protected, not a commodity to be exploited. Host Severn Cullis Suzuki explores the significance of water for Indigenous people and its interconnection to all life.
