Jane Goodall became interested in the jungles of Africa after she read Tarzan by Edgar Rice Burroughs when she was a young girl. The book inspired her to travel to Africa and work under anthropologist Louis Leakey, who asked her to study the chimpanzees in the area. Goodall's work revealed that humans were not the only animal on the planet that used tools. Her findings attracted the attention of the National Geographic Society and soon she became a household name, inspiring countless others to take up environmental causes as their life work. This is her story.

"The Firekeepers" is an inspirational documentary series that highlights the life stories of prominent environmentalists.
