Wild Aerial

Wild Aerial

(2024, 16 minutes)

Wild Aerial follows adventure aerialist Sasha Galitzki to dramatic ice-bound locations in Jasper and Banff National Parks. Sasha performs gravity-defying routines, merging techniques from mountaineering and acrobatics. Her performances, often done without being ‘tied in’, require immense physicality, sound risk assessment, and unwavering confidence. Living in the Canadian Rocky Mountains, Sasha uses her unique artistry to draw attention to beautiful and often vulnerable natural environments. The film explores her unique perspective on risk management and creative expression as she pushes her limits. Notably, Sasha’s vulnerability while performing untethered in the air mirrors the vulnerability of icescapes on a warming planet. The documentary is dedicated to all those affected by the Jasper wildfire of 2024, which burned through the canyon featured in Sasha’s landmark performance. The film culminates with Sasha’s most ambitious outdoor routine ever performed.
