The Firekeepers: Mark Angelo
24m
As a young man, Mark Angelo was an avid white water rafting enthusiast. But a trip on the Blackfoot River in Montana changed his life forever. On that trip he discovered that mining waste was badly polluting the river near the Milltown dam. He went on to study, then teach, the importance of rivers and streams, which are essentially the arteries of the planet. Later in his career he founded British Columbia's Rivers Day, which morphed into World Rivers Day and is celebrated on the fourth Sunday of September each year. This is his story.
