Chicken

Chicken

(2023 , 14 minutes)
When Sam, a recently single woman in her thirties, is forced to move back into her childhood home, she struggles to reconnect with her family and find a sense of direction. Living once again with her mother and her brother Emmett, who has Down syndrome, Sam finds herself challenged by old tensions, changing responsibilities, and her own depression.

As the siblings navigate misunderstandings and emotional conflict, a difficult moment at a baseball game brings them closer together and reveals the strength of their bond. Through themes of family, inclusion, neurodiversity, mental health, and self-acceptance, "Chicken" offers a thoughtful and compassionate exploration of adult sibling relationships and belonging.

Featuring a neurodivergent cast and crew and created by women filmmakers, the film encourages discussion around accessibility, representation, empathy, and community.

Directed by: Lucy McNulty, Emma Pollard
